Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson spoke to the media on Monday in the aftermath of Sunday’s 23-20 loss to the Houston Texans, and we were there.

To listen to his interview, watch above.

Jaguars linebacker Foyesade Oluokun spoke Monday. Below you will find a transcript.

Q: On his perspective on the late hit on QB Trevor Lawrence?

Oluokun: “I can talk from both sides. As a defensive player, he runs for the first down. I can see you’re running, with your maximum effort, but just the way he tackled the actual tackling part. Trevor slid, you know quarterbacks slide, and that’s what it was: he slid. So you’re going low anyway, what were you aiming for? And then you made that – it was a dirty play. I’m not going to say he’s a dirty person, but it was a dirty play. He knows better. I think in his mind he knows he shouldn’t have done that. As a defender, I understand that I have to be aggressive and want to make every play. I saw him say something about trying to hit everyone as hard as possible. Certainly, I understand that mentality. But most of all you understand how the game is played today, and there is no room for that in the game right now.”

Q: What’s the challenge for a linebacker when a quarterback is about to slide?

Oluokun: “I understand that I am aggressive. I understand that I have to make sure that, while running, he doesn’t land first. He slid. He slipped and you fell low. For example, if it wasn’t sliding, it was going low. If you’re going to tackle a quarterback like that, it’s weird anyway. He’s a quarterback, he’s not going to – you’re going to stand him up and run the feet, drive him back. Instead you saw him slide, and he went down after he slid, actually. So in terms of mentality, I understand the attacking mentality. I don’t understand the ending of the piece. I’m not trying to throw him under the bus, but as a defender I understand playing defense, the mentality we have when we try to run and make a tackle. But he did, he slipped quite a bit – you understand you messed up. He understands he messed up.”

Question: About the team’s attitude this morning?

Oluokun: “I think we are trying more to do well on our side. I think that division title race would be settled if we got things right. We haven’t done that yet. So we still have five games to try to make sure everything looks good in our preparation and exactly the way we approach our preparation for the game. There is bigger fish to fry right now than the division championship. I think as professionals and with the talent that we have we are not able to do well is what we have to focus on week in and week out.”

Q: What is his personal frustration level right now?

Oluokun: “My personal frustration is that I feel like I don’t just want to be a player who plays well, I want to be a player who can lead his team to victory, and people can watch and be like, okay , he is a winner in the competition. So my personal frustration is that it kind of haunts your mind, like, “What am I doing wrong?” I’ve obviously done a lot of good things in my career so far. What do I need to get better at? It’s just those little questions that creep into your head, but you have to stay confident outside of that. But clearly I need to look at myself in the mirror, go back to the drawing board, when that moment arises, and see what I need to do differently this year or during the year, over the next five weeks. Just to get people on the right track.”

Question: If discussions take place within the team about possible personnel changes?

Oluokun: “There is no question. That would be dealt with when it is dealt with. I think everyone right now is just trying to get the next five weeks right, starting with this week. I think you have to understand that this is a pretty good locker room in terms of focusing on the next game. No one is pointing fingers at things. I definitely have a lot of respect for the guys in the locker room because you’ve heard about other teams and these kinds of situations kind of become a cave and start to get messy, I would say. So everyone is dealing with it professionally and we are looking, but we have to take responsibility and get these things in order.”

Q: How would he feel if the team shut down Lawrence for the rest of the year?

Oluokun: “I don’t know what he has. I don’t know the grade of the shoulder and I don’t know how serious the concussion is. That’s up to Trevor, don’t ask me about Trevor’s thing. If he thinks he can play well and make the team better, I’d say he can do it. If the Jaguars, as a company, want to talk to me about the business side of football, I don’t think I’ll do it on this podcast. But if he feels like he can come out and make the team better and he really wants that, then he should be able to do that. If he feels like, like you said, he has that shoulder, I don’t know what he’s going to do with that in the offseason, and the concussion, and we have five games. As a team, I said we’re already trying to get things right. If he feels like he can’t do anything about it and the team wants to leave him out, that’s their decision.”

Q: If it’s nice to see guys like OL Walker Little get extended?

Oluokun: “Yes, it is always good to see the next person getting his reward like this. That’s a man who comes to work every week and he’s playing better and better. It’s always good, and I’m always pro teammate. I’ve seen him work. I’ve seen him put in those hours and everything. I’ve been with him in the training room and stuff. It’s always cool to see someone get what he or she deserves.”
